Who I Am
BestTrailBackpacks.com is run by me, Sonia Zannoni. This page explains what information the site collects when you visit, why it collects it, and what you can do about it. I don’t sell, rent or trade anyone’s personal information.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores when you visit a website. This site uses them to work properly, to count visits through Google Analytics and to track affiliate links, both explained below. You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings.
Google Analytics
I use Google Analytics, through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to see how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found the site. Google collects this with cookies and processes it for me. I use the reports to decide what to write and improve, never to identify you.
If you’d rather not be counted, Google offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site.
Affiliate Links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, the store or network may set a cookie so it knows the visit came from Best Trail Backpacks. If you buy something, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
These links come through Amazon Associates and affiliate networks such as AvantLink, which runs programs for stores like Backcountry. The current list of programs is on my Affiliate Disclosure page. Each store and network handles your information under its own privacy policy.
I manage product links and product boxes with a WordPress plugin called Lasso. It keeps links working and may count clicks on them, so I can see which links readers actually use.
Videos
Some posts include YouTube videos. Playing one works much like visiting YouTube, so YouTube may set cookies and collect information under Google’s privacy policy.
Comments
When comments are open on a post, you can leave one under a nickname if you prefer. The name, email and website you enter are stored with your comment so it can appear on the site. Your email address is never published.
Contact Form
If you write to me through the Contact page, I receive your first name, email and message so I can answer you. Writing to me doesn’t add you to any mailing list.
Trail Notes Newsletter
Trail Notes isn’t sending emails yet. When it starts, it will be sent through MailerLite. Signing up will mean sharing your email address, and your first name if you choose. I’ll use them only to send Trail Notes, and every email will include a link to unsubscribe.
Server Logs
Like most websites, my web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, to keep the site secure and running.
Your Information
You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal information I hold about you. Email me at info@besttrailbackpacks.com and I’ll take care of it.
Changes to This Policy
If the way the site collects information changes, I’ll update this page and the date below.
